January 5, 1963

Dear Sister Ephrem:

Many thanks for yours of January 2- giving the address of the one in India who could be contacted for Ivory work in statues – in due time I will use this information.

As for the leaflet:

a) Needless to say it was approved – I had Father Pilarczyk here to act as Censor and I granted the Imprimatur ---

BUT - the leaflet ends with this notation:

"All material is printed only as a personal diary and NOT for official publication.”

We distinguish between what is “printed” and what is “published” – things printed for private use do not carry imprimatur (ag. Notes of the professor for class etc. ) We did not think this leaflet should be “published” in the strict sense – we looked on it only as a private printing as long as it contains, as it does, the story of private revelations.

b) I, being quite naive as you well know, and not possessing the keen female mind, had not looked on the address on it as a souse of eyebrow raising etc., but only for the benefit of those who might want more medals etc. to know WHERE to go to get them.  But after further consideration, as usual you are correct; it would be safer for all concerned not to carry this address.

Therefore may I suggest:

With a view to the fact that you do have a printing press:

a) that you run these leaflets through your press and XXX out the reference to the address.  I am no printer, but have seen this done on stationary where addresses are changed etc., so feel you could do this without great difficulty.

b) at the same time you could add the notation “Private printing”  but personally I do not feel this is necessary in view of the last sentence of the leaflet referred to above.

Finally may I suggest that you perhaps print a new set of leaflets to go with the medal – containing only the actual description of the medal as noted on the enclosed revised copy. This could also carry the two prayers or not as you see fit.  Such a shortened leaflet could then carry the notation “Printed with ecclesiastical approval”.

I think this procedure should save everyone involved and still give what is wanted.

May the Wise men bless you with the Divine Wisdom to better know Him and see Him in all things.

Signed Bishop Leibold

Feast of Precious Blood.

First I received the leaflets on our Lady of America.  Thanks much – I will gradually drop them around places as the opportunity presents itself.  I still think of it as a private devotion and wait out Lady’s action to make the seeds you are planting grow and as it were cause a spontaneous demand for the object of devotion, rather than engaging in any high pressure pushing of it.

Secondly thanks for all the greetings etc.  --- I am so far behind in my work and correspondence I am beginning to get ashamed:  we had 73 confirmations this spring with many other affairs – just this morning consecrating two more altars in new churches: these in St. Therese in Price Hill, which Honorable Anthony began before he died. Then there are speeches which one is expected to make which always require much preparation if one has no great talent like this poor Bishop.  But we are supremely happy with the new Holy Father; if all his acts are as wisely directed and divinely inspired as his first i.e. the choosing of his name, then he will be the greatest we ever had – how good that sounds,. Pope Paul VI.  It was John the Baptist who pointed out Christ to the world, it was Paul, the Apostle, who brought Christ to the world; we see the parallel in Pope John and Pope Paul

One of our parishioners died and left Father Zugelter $500.00 for Masses.  So enclosed please find check for $500.00 for 100 High Masses for the deceased GRACE SCKENWCK. This will carry you for a while.  Frankly I do not know of anyone who has High Masses they want to get rid of.  The parishes are supposed to send their surplus stipends to this Chancery of Mission offices; but evidently they prefer to send them to their private friends, for we get very few.

I am happy to hear you had a slight INCREASE in your community – that will go a long way to helping the general spirit of the Cloister.

I am as usual, disgustingly healthy; the only real problem I face is the fact that eh good God only put 24 hours in a day and made me so slow that I need 48; so sometimes the piles get a little unsightly.

With blessings on all, as ever in the strength of His Precious Blood, and with the love that impelled Him to shed it to the last drop.

Signed Bishop Leibold

I have received the material that you sent me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness, and we will keep the materials in our files.

There are just a couple things that I believe require some clarification.

First of all, it is my recollection that Bishop Leibold asked me to serve as censor for his granting of the imprimatur for the Prayer to the Indwelling Most Holy Trinity. It is not my recollection that Bishop Leibold gave any canonical approval to the message.

Similarly, in the newsletter Our Lady of America, page 2, you indicate that "Paul F. Leibold, Archbishop of Cincinnati" granted the imprimatur to Sister Mildred Mary Neuzil's Diary.  I do not believe that this is exact.

We will keep the materials you sent on file, because we occasionally get inquiries about Our Lady of the America.

Please keep me in your prayers.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Dear Al:

On behalf of Sister Mary Joseph Therese, I wanted to thank you for "renewing" the Our Lady of America website.   Sister would like you to make one change on her behalf.  Specifically, she would like all e –mails that are directed to the site to be immediately processed, through the website, so that they are sent to Eugene Gosse, Jr.    Sister Therese believes that you have Mr. Gosse’s e-mail address.

Sister Therese would appreciate if you could make that change to the website.  I would appreciate if you would send me the e-mail or give me a call when that is accomplished.  Additionally, Sister Therese would like to know any "passwords" associated with the website.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance, and looking forward to hearing from you in this regard, I remain,

Very truly yours,

This is a follow-up to our meeting Aug. 31'" at the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic life, with the Under Secretary Rev. Sr. Emrica Rosannak FMA.

The meeting was very successful and I’m sure you are encouraged by it.

The opportunity for you to review pertinent documentation on file at the above cited Dicastery, and thereby verify you statues – i.e. that you are in no way associated with the Precious Blood Sisters of Dayton, Ohio,  2) that you are the legitimate legal representative of "Our Lady of Nativity Convent," in Seneca County. Ohio - underlines the importance of said meeting.

Our Lady of the Nativity Convent, once a papal enclosure at New Riegel, Ohio, his since become (circa 1980) a private association of lay faithful living out a religious life in accordance with Catholic Church law. "By private agreement among themselves, Christ’s faithful have the right to constitute associations" of this kind (can. 299, Codez Jusis Cononici,. which do not require the approval of the local bishop. As you will recall, this was specifically confirmed by the Under Secretary during our meeting.

As stated to the Under Secretary we have prepared statues for a "public" association of the faithful, which will be presented to the bishop for approval in due course.   '         ..

The eventual approval of 'a public association of the faithful is to be considered separate and distinct from the promotion of a cause for the beatification of the Servant of God, Sr. Mary Ephrem (Mildred Neuzil);  and also from the meeting already requested with the Toledo Ordinary  with regard to the Our Lady of America devotion.

As I mentioned to you in my recent letter, it was my intention to meet with Joseph Therese regarding her state of life in the Church, and also her promotion of the devotion of Our Lady of America.

Having met with her last Thursday, December 13, it would appear that she had decided not to comply with your continued direction regarding the future of the devotion.  Indeed she feels personally aggrieved at the alleged mistreatment as a result of some of your words and actions.  At the same time, she assured me that she would do whatever is necessary to clarify her state of life, with a view to her desire to eventually found a new religious community devoted to Our Lady of America

I had been relieved to know that the two of you had come to recognize the difficulties faced by Joseph Therese with regard to her canonical status as well as others concerns.  However, it would appear that she too recognizes the need to resolve these problems, but prefers to do so without your further intervention.

As I communicated to you earlier, I am willing to give my blessing or approval to an association of the faithful for the purpose of furthering the devotion.  However, until such time as the division between yourselves and Joseph Therese is satisfactorily resolved, I do not feel it would be opportune for me to recognize or approve an association.  I realize that this will be a cause of frustration and disappointment to you, but I would not want to see the devotion compromised or injured by unresolved divisions or disputes.

Dear AI,

I have received the courtesy copy of the letter sent to you from Bishop Blair, properly the bishop of jurisdiction with regard to the devotion to Our Lady of America.

As I mentioned to you on the phone, I prefer not to be associated with the promotion of this devotion or the protection of the statures of Our Lady of America, because I think intimately it causes great confusion about which bishop has the designated ecclesial authority over the statue and the devotion.

Thanking you very much for all you do to promote this cause and also assuring you of a little place in my prayers in this regard, I remain         .

43697-0985    (Letter of Sister Therese to Bishop Blair)

February 8, 2008

Most Reverend Blair,

Greetings, through our dear Blessed Mother. May she obtain abundant graces and blessings from her Divine Son for you and our diocese.

Your Excellency, this letter is in response to your faxed Statement of the Diocese of Toledo. First and foremost I thank you for sharing this with me and giving me the opportunity to respond.

My first question that I feel I am entitled to ask is; why the Diocese feels the need to respond to these issues, was the credibility of the sources checked? If sources were researched, you would find these allegations are not true, since they deflect to the ongoing defamation of me in the public, on the internet, and with the bishops being challenged to respond.

I also notice this is in the timing of the present federal law suit whereas discovery is about to begin in the Federal Southern District of Indiana, where Albert Langsenkamp  and Kevin McCarthy have filed a retaliatory and frivolous lawsuit stating that I am operating in a “fraudulent”" way.

I have the fundamental right to know the source of these allegations, since I am being put in a compromising situation. Also in the situation of defending myself which I feel that I should  not have to do. The pressure to expedite such a statement leaves me no recourse but to explain to you the truth.

With regard to this statement of the Diocese of Toledo regarding the "shrine" to Our lady of America, in Seneca County. Ohio I do not accept this statement because of the following inaccuracies.

Paragraph 1

Regarding references to '"The Our Lady of America Shrine",

If the Diocese of Toledo has never given approbation or recognition to "an Our Lady of America Shrine", it is because I have never  asked for it in any promotional material, nor have I ever used the term "shrine" in reference to Our Lady of America. Who is referring to Our Lady of America as a shrine? It needs to be clarified that I have never referred to Our Lady of America as a "'shrine~. It is a center for the promotion of the devotion to Our Lady of America, to carry out the mission handed on to me personally by Sister Mildred Mary Emphrem Neuzil. (copyright, trade mark, and by Probate of Will)

Paragraph 2.

Regarding references to the Contemplative Sisters connected to the "shrine"; we have never identified ourselves as Contemplative sisters connected to a "shrine", I will add that Mr. McCarthy always invited people to visit my property and always referred to it as a shrine. I would have to inform people that it was not a shrine, so when they came they would realize there wasn't a place to stay overnight, they would have to stay at a hotel.

Sister Mary Catherine of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery about nine months ago called and asked me if the sisters of the Poor Clare's could visit my shrine because Kevin McCarthy told her I bad a shrine on the property, the sisters were visiting shrines in the area and wanted to stop by. I informed her that there was no shrine here and I was not able to accommodate them to visit because I did not have the facility to. When I spoke to Mr. McCarthy about my conversation with Sister Mary Catherine, he was furious that I had spoke to them, and that he wanted them to visit. I told him I did not have a problem with them visiting but that they would be disappointed if they came here in anticipation to see a shrine.

We have been recognized as Contemplative Sisters with the Our Lady of the Nativity Cloister. Again, per the letter of Alan R. Kershaw, PH.B., J.U.D., 10. Advocate of the Apostolic Tribunal of the Roman Rota, Sister Joseph Therese aka Patricia Ann Fuller, is a member of a canonical institute of consecrated religious life. This letter dated September 6, 2006, addressing her as Sister Mary Joseph Therese Fuller states:

"Our Lady of the Nativity Convent, once a papal enclosure at New Riegel, Ohio, has since become (CIRCA 1980) a private association of lay faithful, living out a religious life in accordance with Catholic Church Law.  By private agreement among themselves, Christ’s faithful have the right to constitute associations of this kind (Canon 299, Codez Juris Canonia), which do not require the approval of the local bishop.  As you  will recall, this was specifically confirmed by the Under Secretary, during our meeting. As stated to the Under Secretary. We jave prepared statutes for a “public” association of the faithful, which will be presented to the bishop for approval in due course.”

Please note the wording "living out a religious life in accordance with Catholic Church Law'.  This confirms my canonical status as a religious under Papal Authority. I am a religious entitled to be addressed as Sister. I have never sought dispensation from my permanent vows, which were accepted by Rome while a sister of the Our Lady of the Nativity Convent Cloister.  I do not cease to be a religious because the other members of my community have passed away.

I am concerned about the term and concept of being dismissed from the Precious Blood Order. Let it be clarified that the Contemplative Sisters were not "dismissed" from the Precious Blood Order, but we requested "separation" at the advice of numerous priests and nuns who evaluated our cloister  and suggested separation from the active community in order to maintain our contemplative way of life. Sister Florecita, Sister Mildred, and myself wrote to The Holy See and sent our rule of life informing them of our intentions and we received a letter that our intentions were received in Rome.  Letters are available upon request.  Canonical steps were and are being taken.

Paragraph 3.

Regarding reference to founding a new community of women devoted to the promotion to Our Lady of America.

1 am puzzled why 1 am referred to as Patricia Ann Fuller, when in our conversation and our meeting on December 13, 2007 that you assured me that I am still a sister and that you yourself have called me by that title, as have all other church authorities, especially The Roman :Rota.

Sister Mildred Mary Emphrem Neuzil did write a rule for a new community of women to promote the central doctrine that underlies the whole message of Our Lady of America, The Divine Indwelling Presence of the Most Holy Trinity. Steps were taken toward canonical approval of the Rule. Father Basil Cole is helping me (there was copy of the rule sent to the Vatican when we separated from the Precious Blood Order) Work is being done to obtain the approval. I have always worked in full harmony with the church. J have not taken in any women into my convent nor have I made any public statements to that effect.

A statement was put on the Our Lady of America website on Nov. 2, 2007 controlled by Albert  Langsenkamp as follows:

Sister Joseph Therese C.I.T. makes announcement.

November 2, 2007, Fostoria. OH: Sisters Joseph Therese C.I.T. the sole remaining sister of The Our  Lady of The Nativity Convent in Fostoria, OH today announced to the lay  volunteers that there are a couple of nuns that have joined with her  at the convent. The lay volunteers were further informed that .....

Please note I have never made such a claim, I have not taken in any nuns and I have not authorized anyone to make such a false statement.

Please be aware that I did leave a message for Mr. Langsenkamp on his answering machine as follows; That I wanted him to return all the requests for orders to me and that I was getting help from lay people, and some or my acquaintances, who are mans. This was strictly regarding the shipment orders that had to go out, that people were complaining and that the volunteers were willing to help and get the orders out.

This is another example of Mr. Langsenkamp twisting my words and putting statements out in the public that I did not authorize. This is why I asked him to step down, because of his need to falsely promote my intentions and operations of the devotion.

Paragraph 4

Regarding the letter of Archbishop Burke and the status of Our Lady of Nativity Convent

The status of Our Lady of Nativity Convent  should have no bearing on the movement, if the movement remains with the Our Lady of America Center in Fostoria Ohio, and under my guardianship.  It was never an issue until Kevin B McCarthy and Albert Langsenkamp came along and tried to make an issue of it in order to discredit me and separate me from the movement.  I was entrusted by Sister Mildred Mary Emphrem Neuzil with guarding the purity of the message-- no changes, distortions, additions, deletions or focus on any shrine other than the National Basilica until Our Lady' 8 ultimate request had been fulfilled by the bishops. Canon Law regarding apparitions also dictates no changes whatsoever to the messages from Heaven. We note the delay in approval for Divine Mercy because of the misinterpretations.

Since the DVM foundation / Kevin McCarthy, and the Langsenkamp family apostolate have tried to convince the bishops and the public that the movement does not need me, I object to this paragraph. I am the closest living person to Sister Mildred and understand better than anyone else this mission as she saw it. I am an integral part to the movement to maintain its purity because of the legal and moral guardianship from adulteration  Sister Millie passed on to me. This effort bas led to defaming me in public over the internet, in phone conversations, calling me a fraud in legal complaints of false accusations. You are familiar with Father Borger's visit to me at my convent, verbally attacking me and the movement as fraud. Who authorized this harassing visit?  Many derogatory statements have followed these men's assertions that I am not a nun on the Our Lady of the Immaculate Virgin website, in the state of Indiana where these men live.

It has become necessary to raise some questions that have arisen in the public and need clarification.

1. Is it correct that no changes whatsoever from the authentic record of the visionary-distortions, additions, deletion, interpretations - can be made to messages involved in an apparition? It is to my understanding the answer is yes.

How then did Kevin McCarthy and Albert Langsenkamp seek an official opinion letter from Archbishop Burke and deliberately EXCLUDE the messages printed in 1981 and thereafter following Archbishop Liebold's death. validly copyrighted in 1989, which would not come under the scope of that opinion letter?

Please note, while acting as volunteers and working on my behalf, these men ordered from my printer, without my knowledge and without my authorization, copies of the Diary of Messages, deleting the Prayer to the Indwelling Most Holy Trinity that was a part of the original diary printed on February 2, 1960 and which is an essential part of the message, the fundamental doctrine that underlies the whole message. This is an unconscionable distortion and desecration of the messages. How do you promote a message of purity when you have changed, deleted and distorted the whole message as these two men have?

This is why Sister Mildred has entrusted the guardianship of this message to me.

2. Per a letter from Bishop Riken, the bishop of Toledo is the sole authority over this devotion as you have told me yourself. If the messages after Archbishop Liebold's death, have not been approved, can we say this devotion bas full canonical approval? We have been told ALL messages must be approved to enjoy full canonical approval. Would that not require the Bishop of Toledo to approve the remaining messages after Archbishop Liebold's death? Mr. McCarthy and Mr. Langsenkamp have promoted to the public that this message has full canonical approval equal to Fatima and Lourdes. Is that true?

I have received numerous phone calls that Mr. Langsenkamp is promoting the idea that the Bishops are making a statement regarding me, and that he is confident that their (Al and Keven) allegations will be founded.  He also is assuring the devotees of the by email that he has had several meetings with you regarding this matter and why he needs to run this devotion, asserting that I have fooled many people.  That they were asked by the bishops to investigate and needed to take this in a new direction.  Mr McCarthy makes it well known that they did the investigation. I believe the faxed info represents his findings.

The very fax you have sent me are the very allegations they are making in the law suit, filed on January 16, 2008 in Federal District Court to discredit me.

I have asked repeatedly to Mr. Langsenkamp to return the rubber signature stamp, and electronic signature stamp that he had made up for letters to bishops representing me when we worked together at first when I trusted him.  I am concerned that they might have been or might be used in an unauthorized way.

Is it true that Mr. Langsenkamp has met with you 2 or 3 times? I have been asking for a meeting with you and now this statement is being made.

This is in the very timing of discovery of their Law Suit and I find this to be a disastrous attack on my life, personally, publicly, and most of all because Sister Mildred Mary Neuzil was the same status as I was. She is also being taken to court.

Once again I appeal to you through the council of a very prominent Catholic judge, and other prominent Catholic attorneys, to ask Archbishop Daniel Buechelein, to ask the plaintiffs to drop the civil case and to work with a Catholic mediator as counseled by the Catholic judges and Catholic attorneys to settle this as a Catholic matter, this would show good faith for both parties.

Our Catholic Law counsel said the federal case is a frivolous lawsuit, to frighten and intimidate three mothers and a Sister.  It has no place in civil court and is entirely a church matter.

Waiting for your Excellency's response

In the Most Holy Trinity and Our Lady of America's Most Pure Heart

Sister Mary Joseph Therese, C.I.T.
