Who Runs The Government?

It always seemed wrong to me that politicians (mostly lawyers) ran governments. People educated in economics should take care of economics. People educated in Principles of Education should care for the School systems. Instead of electing those who know how, we elect those who give good speeches and they then hire the experts. So, we pay for the politician, who hires the expert, and then takes credit for what he does. Silly system.

In most European Nations there can be as many as 30 people running for one office. In the end in order to form a government someone has to make a deal with 3 or 4 of his opponents in order to form a 51% majority. Silly system as all must compromise their own beliefs.

No one should hold office who does not hold a majority of the votes of a Nation. This can only happen if the election is between two people. How then do we get to only two people? Can the general public be trusted to know who is qualified and who is not? Keep it simple by thinking of a small town of 100 people, mostly farmers and ranchers. In the town are some College graduates: the priest, the doctor, four teachers and one engineer. There are eight land owners who have run efficient businesses for many years. They need to select two people for a vote to send one to the capital of the Nation to represent them in government. In most systems, some person decides he or she wants to be a Senator and runs for the office. They may have no qualifications other than they want the job. The people vote for one of two or three people and say that they have voted for the lesser of three evils, because they do not like any of them but those are the only ones running.

The solution to the problem of getting the best into office is not a good solution but the only one I can come up with. That is to have the leading people of the town meet together to select two people for office and then let the people vote for these two people. They would pick people who had the intellectual ability and the trustworthy morals to represent the town. The people would still vote but they would vote for qualified people and not politicians.

In some governments like America there are two houses, one by land and one by population. If you look into the reasons for this it was because they put together 13 nations into one and needed a compromise. This system is not even logical. A single body of experts voted by the simple majority is all that is needed. No general election is ever needed. Each district elects there own Senator and the Senators select a President and Speaker.

Political Parties are not needed as there is a fixed type of Government that cannot change except by a 2/3 vote of the people. It is hoped that most Senators will be Professors and Businessmen.
