Restrictions on Freedom of Speech

The primary reason for freedom of speech in the American constitution was the right to criticize the government and I believe in this right totally. It did not however, have the right to lie or to damage the reputation of others. I would include school books in this section on the constitution regarding lies and untruths. One can have years of schooling as I did and be filled with information but never have the truth. It was not until I left these colleges in America and their false information that I ever came to the truth. They had revised history, false science, biased theories of communism and socialism, etc. Most of my teachers were atheists and hated religion.

I have to problem with theory provided it is presented as theory. When a scientist presents an unproven theory as a scientific fact, he corrupts any future investigation by the student, who then accepts this so-called fact as finished. This happened in the past when people said we could not fly or that the world was flat without any real proof of these so-called facts.

History is another corruption of truth and a violation of freedom of speech. Every country corrupts history in some ways by favoring the opinions of their own people. This can be somewhat tolerated in the interest of peace, but when I go to the internet seeking the history of Portugal and find no reference to the Catholic Church in the entire history, this cannot be tolerated.

A Catholic country is a moral country and sex is a holy and private thing, even a sacred thing. Promoting sex as some kind of animalistic public show to excite the passions of weak people cannot be part of a Catholic Nation. Even commercials that use sex to entice people to buy products they do not need should be outlawed.

In all writings, radio, TV or any kind of communication, freedom of information must be protected, but within the context of the common good of the Nation, where morals and ethics are the backbone of peace and productivity.

Music can also be a cause of disharmony in the peace of a Nation if it aggravates people to violence or sex or disobedience. This is especially true when the mere volume of music is offensive and done to kill the brain and attach the body emotions. This is also true when the OEMs of TV and radio go up higher for commercials than the program you are watching.

True in most countries is that freedom of speech does not allow the damage to anyone's reputation unless that knowledge serves some common good.

No special privileges should be given to religion regarding freedom of speech. Only in politics should people have complete freedom.

I can remember when I was a child that Hollywood produced great movies with morals and truth and God. They may have done it only for money but they did much good, movies like the Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, Joan of Ark, The Song of Bernadette, The Miracle of Fatima, The Robe, Spartigus, etc. They made movies about love instead of sex, like Sargent York, The Sound of Music, etc. A Nation interested in morals and ethics would promote these same movies and become the producer of more to be exported all over the world.
