The law should be simple and easy for everyone to read, understand and even memorize. Government is meant to protect peoples rights. It is to protect me from you and you from me. It should never protect me from me. Government should never pass laws that will be too hard to enforce. It should never pass laws that will create an underground Mafia or black market. The Mafia and black market is always worse than the weaknesses of man. You can fill your jails with drug and alcohol users but you will never stop it. People will grow drugs in closets with ultraviolet lamps and make synthetic drugs in basements. Better to control borders and arrest anyone selling drugs with huge sentences even death than to try and find and arrest all the victims.

It is said that prostitution is the oldest business in the world. Maybe so! Of course as a Catholic we consider this a great sin. But gambling, prostitution and alcohol were illegal in America for many years, and it just created the greatest Mafia in the world. These things cannot be controlled by law, only by the Church and the family.

In truth I would rather see prostitution than rape. I would rather see prostitution than worry about my daughter being harassed in the streets. I would even rather see a married man go to a prostitute than have him have an affair with a woman who could someday be someone else's wife or is now. Jails that are packed with people shows a very bad system. Harm to the common good is the first law and beyond that tolerance.

Catholics will be very upset with my comments here, but let me quote one of the Doctors of the Church,

"It be better that a man plant his seed in the belly of a whore, than to plant his seed on the side of the road."
