Why an Aristocracy?
I guess Plato came up with the word, Aristocrats, to describe those people who had the greatest talent in intellect and leadership. Everyone recognizes these people in that they always stand out in mental ability, and seem to be always the ones picked to lead or head up projects because they know how to put things together and get things done. They usually do not want to lead but they just do it because no one else will get it done properly. Even the strong bend to these people because they also see that it is the only way to progress.
My experience in America is that if you just leave it to people to run for political office you get the egotists, those who thrive on the attention but not the intellects. They would be better off on the stage as actors or singers or poets. The solution is to pick the right men for the job even among those who do not want the job. The best people to do the picking are those who are already the leaders and the movers, for they know people. It has been demonstrated that the general public always picks the good-looking or the best talkers. Women pick the one who is the sexiest and not the one who is the smartest.
Political parties promote political philosophies. This Nation has a political philosophy that cannot change. To have a Republican, or a Democratic, or a Socialist, or a Communist party would be useless in an unchangeable government. People should be chosen because of their talent and not because they have pleased a faction of the people for a period of time. To be picked as a candidate for a political party you must please all the people that you can in that party. To do this one must compromise. The word compromise almost always means to take a stand that is half wrong and to agree with something you do not believe in.
