A New Order That The Church Can Be Proud Of

One Of The New Orders That Uses Only The Tridentine Mass

The Institute of Christ the King is a society of apostolic life approved by Rome and canonically erected in 1990. Its goal is the glory of God and the sanctification of priests in the service of the Church and souls through doctrinal and spiritual formation.

Msgr. Gilles Wach is its founder and superior general.

The particular end of the Institute is missionary, which is the propagation and defense of the Reign of Christ in all aspects of human life.

Dedicated to Christ the King, Sovereign Priest, this young zealous Institute is placed under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception and honors Saint Francis de Sales, Saint Thomas Aquinas, and Saint Benedict as secondary patrons.

Our House of Formation, located at Gricigliano near Florence, Italy, is intended to prepare future priests in a Roman spirit; priests destined for parish ministries, teaching, spiritual direction, and preaching retreats, who promote all human and supernatural values of Christian civilization in such a way that is harmonious with true culture and Christianity.

For this reason, and enjoying the right confirmed by the Holy Father, Pope John-Paul II, in his Motu proprio of 2 July 1988, the liturgical books used in the seminary and the Institute are those according to the Vatican Typical Edition of 1962.

Clerical formation is given according to the spirit in which the Church intends to form Her priests. This spirit is that of our Lord Jesus Christ Himself which has been handed down over the centuries, and which is expressed in Tradition, the decrees of the Popes, the Canons of the Church and the declarations of the Councils.
